WWE Crown Jewel 2021: Matches, History, and Upcoming Events

EntertainmentWWE Crown Jewel 2021: Matches, History, and Upcoming Events

In this blog we are going to tell you about WWE Crown Jewel 2021, so read this blog carefully to get the complete information.

The WWE Crown Jewel 2021 was the company’s third Crown Jewel professional wrestling event. It was open to wrestlers from the Raw and SmackDown brand divisions of the business.

The event was broadcast on pay-per-view (PPV) around the world and streamed on Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network globally, making it the first Crown Jewel to be shown on Peacock.

It took place at Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 21, 2021.

WWE presented its sixth event in Saudi Arabia as part of a 10-year commitment to support Saudi Vision 2030.

WWE’s First Event in the US after Pandemic

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was also WWE’s first PPV event held outside of the United States since the last Saudi Arabian show, Super ShowDown, in February 2020. The finals of the 2021 King of the Ring tournament and the inaugural Queen’s Crown tournament were also held at the event.

The event included ten bouts, including one during the Kickoff pre-show. Roman Reigns won the Universal Championship by defeating Brock Lesnar in the main event.

In other notable matches, Becky Lynch retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship by defeating Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair in a triple threat match, Big E retained the WWE Championship by defeating Drew McIntyre, Xavier Woods won the King of the Ring tournament, and Zelina Vega won the SmackDown Women’s Championship by defeating Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair in a triple threat match.

Edge defeated Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match, while Goldberg defeated Bobby Lashley in a No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere match.

In contrast to previous WWE events staged in Saudi Arabia, reviewers praised Crown Jewel, particularly the Hell in a Cell bout between Edge and Seth Rollins.

The Backstory

In early 2018, WWE announced a 10-year comprehensive cross-platform collaboration with the General Sports Authority in support of Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Arabian government’s social and economic reform agenda.

Crown Jewel was then formed during that year as one of the partnership’s recurring events.

The event in 2021 was the third in the Crown Jewel series, the sixth overall for the Saudi Arabian alliance, and WWE’s first PPV outside of the United States since Super ShowDown in February 2020, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Wrestlers from the Raw and SmackDown brands competed at the event, which took place on October 21, 2021, at Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh.

It was the first Crown Jewel to air on Peacock since the American edition of the WWE Network consolidated under Peacock in March, in addition to pay-per-view and the WWE Network in overseas markets.

The Weeknd’s “Take My Breath” was the official theme song for the event.
