Earlier Life of R. Bindu
Bindu was born as the daughter of KN Radhakrishnan and K Shanthakumari. She married A. Vijayaraghavan, who was the former politician and Secretary of the Kerala State Committee. The couple has a son named Harikrishnana.
She was the Head of the English Department and the Vice Principal of Shree Kerala Varma College in Thrissur before joining politics.
Political Career
R. Bindu was the representative of the senate and syndicate of Calicut University. Apart from that, she is a member of the AIDWA and has a close association with the All India Democratic Women’s Association. She even became the first mayor of Thrissur.
Education and Participation in political activities
However, Bindu entered the world of politics when she was a student. She often took part in social activities. She has completed her graduation from the Irinjalakuda Girls’ HS, Irinjalakuda St Joseph’s College. It was a Department of English; Calicut University and JNU Delhi.
R. Bindu holds a Master’s degree in English Literature. After completing her Masters, she opted M.Phil and then pursued a Ph.D.

In 2005-10, Bindu became the mayor of Thrissur Corporation. There she was the head of the English department. She was also heading the Thrissur Kerala Varma College as a principal.
